Racquet Club Estates | Palm Springs
One of Palm Springs original mid-century modern enclaves, Racquet Club Estates was constructed to provide residents with easy access to the famous Racquet Club, the original hangout for Hollywood types. Although the Racquet Club itself has long since retreated into history, the next-door neighborhood of more than 500 homes lives on.
The Alexander Construction Company built most of the homes in the neighborhood; they were affordable, quickly and easily assembled, and with a common design of roughly 1,200 square feet.
All the classic mid-century modern elements abound: floor-to-ceiling windows and sliders, a layout conducive to indoor-outdoor living, and post-and-beam construction with high ceilings.
When Palm Springs real estate took a nosedive in the ‘80s, many of the homes just sat there, as abandoned second homes, untouched.
Good thing, because years later, a new generation of sophisticated buyers snapped them up, maintaining the integrity of the design, while updating them with modern finishes and tech.
The location, with up-close views of the San Jacinto Mountains and the Palm Springs Tram, can’t be beat. All the shopping, entertainment and dining that makes Palm Springs so desirable is just minutes away.
Homes in this neighborhood are located on fee land that is owned.
