Tahquitz River Estates | Palm Springs

Formerly known as Palos Verde Estates, the most famous section of Tahquitz River Estates neighborhood was developed by Palm Springs luminary Peral McCallum McManus. The river flows (sometimes) in a flood channel and is dry as a bone in summer and fall but can become a swift river after rains and snowmelt.

Trails line the channel, which provides a nice dog walking route for the neighborhood. And just a bit further to the west of the neighborhood, where the mountains shoot up suddenly from the desert floor, the river has carved a massive canyon, and trails lead to a nearly year-round waterfall.

The earliest homes in Tahquitz River Estates date from the 1930s and some are relatively recent. Old Spanish style homes, a few with two stories, mix it up with mid-century modern designs, suburban tract homes, and contemporary dwellings.

Besides the proximity to the river, the canyon and associated trails, the neighborhood is steps away from Palm Canyon Drive with ample shopping, dining and entertainment options.

The diversity of the neighborhood also means that there are still opportunities for the remodeler in you.

Many buyers have taken ordinary tract homes and turned them into stylishly modern digs suitable for Palm Springs real estate photo shoots.

Homes in this neighborhood are located on fee land that is owned.
